LG battery fire recall — HV pack/module replacement
Every 2017-2022 Bolt EV was recalled because two rare LG cell defects (a torn anode plus a folded separator in the same cell) can start a battery fire. GM replaces the bad modules — or the whole pack on early cars — for free and adds a fresh 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty. At the viewing, ask for proof the recall was done and check that the car charges to a full 100%, not the 80% limp-mode cap. If the seller can't show it was completed, get it fixed free before you buy. A pack bought out of pocket can run to $15,000.
Ask for repair records covering this item. If it hasn't been addressed and the car is in or near the mileage window, price the up to $15,000 repair into your offer — or make it the seller's problem.
