HV battery contactor overheat recall (23S56)
On 2021-2022 extended-range and GT cars, hard DC fast-charging and full-throttle launches can overheat the high-voltage battery main contactors, which may weld or fail to close and cut all motive power while driving (a wrench light and 'Stop Safely Now' warning). Ask if recall 23S56 (new battery junction box) was done; it is free at a Ford dealer. Out of warranty the junction box runs about $2,000-$3,500.

12V drain e-latch door-lockout recall
The electronic door handles need 12V power to open. If the 12V battery drains below about 8.4V, the e-latch doors can lock people out or trap a passenger inside, which is a hot-weather risk with kids in back. A 2025 recall covers a free software fix; confirm it was applied. Test every handle and check for a weak or old 12V battery. Replacing the 12V plus a tow runs a few hundred dollars.
