ICCU failure — 12V drain, power loss, stranding

These E-GMP cars have a known Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure. When it fails the 12V battery stops charging, the car warns you, then loses drive power while driving and can strand you; it may also refuse to charge. Covered by Kia recall SC302 (NHTSA 24V-200). Ask whether the ICCU and fuse were replaced, not just software-updated, and confirm both AC and DC charging work on a test-drive. Out of warranty a new ICCU can top $5,000.
