LG E400 battery short-circuit fire recall
Some first-gen Soul EVs with the E400 LG high-voltage battery can short between cell layers and catch fire (NHTSA recall 23V-218). Kia's software watches for abnormal cell voltage; if it trips, charging caps at 80%, the car enters limp mode, and the pack is replaced free. Ask if the recall software was applied and whether the pack was ever swapped. Watch for reduced range, an EV warning light, or an 80% charge cap. Out of warranty a replacement pack runs many thousands.
