Automatic transmission failure

Early XC90 automatics — especially behind the T6 engine — slip, shift hard, and fail outright in large numbers. Any flare between gears or clunky downshift on the test drive is disqualifying unless the price reflects a rebuild. A replaced or rebuilt transmission with paperwork is the best version of this truck.
