The documented failure patterns on used BMW F 800 GSs — the mileage window where each shows up,
and what the repair typically costs at an independent shop. This is the same data NoLemon's Brief checks
against every VIN.
Rear wheel bearings wear out very early — NHTSA complaints report failures from 9,000 miles, always on the chain side. Spin the rear wheel on the center stand and listen for grinding, then push the rim side-to-side to feel for play. It is a cheap fix caught early, but a seller who never checked may have worn the hub.
BEFORE YOU BUY Ask for repair records covering this item. If it hasn't been addressed and the
car is in or near the mileage window, price the $150–$350 repair into your offer — or make it the seller's problem.

Stator / charging system failure
The alternator stator burns out, the battery slowly drains, and the bike dies mid-ride — complaints show failures at 28,000 and 47,000 miles. Check for roughly 14 volts at the battery with the engine at 3,000 rpm. BMW only sells the stator with the rotor, which makes dealer quotes steep; an independent shop can do it cheaper.
