8V flat-tappet cam follower wear

The early 8-valve engine used flat tappets that wear through their hard coating and shed metal into the oil — the defining flaw of this engine, with Guzzi moving to roller tappets for 2012 and supplying goodwill roller kits for many earlier bikes. Ask specifically whether the roller-tappet conversion was done and see the receipts. If not, have a shop pull the valve covers and inspect the followers before you buy, and price in a full conversion.
