Battery contactor recall — sudden loss of drive power
NHTSA recall 25V-690: certain 2026 Model Y built March-August 2025 have a battery pack contactor that can suddenly open, cutting drive power while the car is moving and triggering a 'pull over' warning. Tesla replaces the contactor free under the recall. At the viewing, run the VIN on nhtsa.gov to confirm the recall shows completed; if not, book the free fix before you rely on the car. Out of warranty, a contactor repair could run several hundred up to about $1,500.
Ask for repair records covering this item. If it hasn't been addressed and the car is in or near the mileage window, price the up to $1,500 repair into your offer — or make it the seller's problem.
